Action research week 5
Well, we have started a great journey. We were given this tool now we have to see how well we will use it. I have started to understand why action research can empower the person or team that chooses to use this tool. I am researching a topic that I believed that the way we where teaching was the right way, and I had just set out to prove it to be true.My eye have been opened to a few other ways that could improve the way we teach the bilingual child. The fact that we use is been proven true ,but there are some techniques that may even improve the way we teach.I know that no matter how much research I do the most important thing is that, I can become the voice for the bilingual child so that they can get the best education they can achieve. I hope that through this journey that I will have an open mind and the strong will to continue to the end. I hope that one day I will become a great leader like my site supervisor . She has a heart of gold and the knowledge that amazes me everyday. She is always thinking of how to improve the ways so that the children get the best education available. She takes the title one school and surpasses all the academies in our district and in the state of Texas. Thanks J Oneal for being a the best boss and mentor.

Action research part 2
I have been working on an action research plan that will compare data to show the best way to teach a bilingual child. So far I have gone through massive amounts of data that shows test scores and reading comprehension levels. I have been comparing different styles of bilingual programs and interviewing different principals.I have been getting their perspectives of how their program are effective or ineffective. This data is really an eye opening perspective of how important it is to understand how difficult it is for a bilingual child to have a substantial education. Many time they enter a different program each time they change school. I truly believe these children need and deserve a program that is the same no matter what school they attend. My goal is to be able to show data that proves which program will be the best way to teach the bilingual child.

Action Research
I have learned that action research is a great tool to use to find out how to improve or how to solve problems that occurred throughout the school year. I have learned that I will be able to set up committees and collect data to track effective teaching materials.I will be able to collect data that proves what are effective ways to teach, and not effective ways to teach. The days of tradional research may be something of the past, with action research you get true quality data. With this tool education will be able to find tested ways to improve the way we educate our children. The children will be able to have a safer more effective place to learn. I believe that the staff and children will appricate the knowledge that will come out of action research plans. The way I plan to use action research is to help my staff with morale.I will also research ways to improve academic success for all my students. An action research plan is going to be one of the most useful tool that I will be able to put in to place as an administrator.

My Dysfunctional Family
Some people say they have a dysfunctional family ,but my family is the mother of all dysfunctional.Where do I begin I am a forty five year old woman that lives in a house with my 79 and 75 year old parents,my 49 year old severely depressed sister,a 27 year old niece, a 23 year old nephew who I have custody of due to he is disabled,a 5 year old great niece, and a 4 year old niece, so the final count is eight. We also have at least two to three of my nephew friends that eat, sleep, and shower at any given time, and a tattoo guy and his girl friend that uses my nephew's room as an underground tattoo parlor.Ops I guess its not underground any longer.Where do I start? Once there was a quiet little house and it had a empty room, first mistake. My sister called and said I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm moving in with you so mom and dad can take care of the baby while I work. Oh wait this is my severe depressed sister that at the time is forty six and already has three grown children, in which, I had custody of one of her kids, and my parents adopted one,and she sometimes raised the other one.The quiet little house has not been the same since. After the arrival of a beautiful little girl(she looks like her aunt)my sister fell deeper and deeper into a depressive state, and now I have a baby to take care of. Shortly after the baby was born my niece called and said she was getting a divorce and need a place to live. So in moved my niece and her one year old baby girl. After moving rooms around finding everyone someplace to sleep. I decided that my 23 year old nephew that is handicapped needed a place he could live in independently, but I could still see what he is doing,so I bought a building and put it on the side of the house.I added electric, heat, air conditioning,a microwave, and a refrigerator, and now he has his own little space to live in. Do you see how my life is going to be a little dysfunctional? Oh by the way did I mention my niece doesn't have a job nor does my nephew, but they have car payments and insurance, and need food, clothes, and my niece has a child!! As the year go by it is now four years later and I still have eight people living with me and still only have two of the eight working. Now my sister goes to work and then come homes takes a hand full of pills and goes to sleep.I have the best mother,'sometimes', she does do the laundry and she does cook most of the nights, at least she cooks for her and my dad if nothing else. One thing my mom does best is yell. She doesn't like anything to be out of its place and she doesn't understand why a 4 and 5 year old can't play with just one thing and why they make noise.Do see where I heading? Now I have a screaming neurotic 75 year old lady following the two little girls around yelling at them not to make a mess. Oh I forgot to tell you,we also have two dogs ,one is a rat terrier and every time the kids cries or someone yells he howls until it gets quiet.Just to remind you I now have two small children and a screaming old woman. Lets me tell you a little about my niece, she doesn't know how to talk quietly she thinks that if you yell you will get your point across better so she screams at her kid ,at her grandmother,at her brothers and of course her depressive mother who screams back at her. Remember the dog barks at crying and loud talking so I live with people screaming and a dog howling all day and night. By the way did I tell you that I'm a teacher and I'm taking graduate classes on line while all of this is going on. Some people at work ask me how I do it live in such dysfunction . The answer is god must have something special in mind for me or else I have made him very angry to make my life so dysfunctional. This is just the beginning follow along as the dysfunction continues you either have to laugh or someday just cry.Until next time have a great and wonderful day!

How to know if you are a teacher ?
I was always told my mom that I was going to have 100 kids when I got married. Well I didn't have 100, but I have taught more than 100 kids in the past years. I would have never thought I would have been a teacher. I hated school and could come up with more reason to miss school, but my freshman year in high school I found a way to get out of school early. All you had to do is sign up for this class and then you had to go to an elementary school and help some teachers. How easy would that be work a couple of hours and the rest of the afternoon you had early release. What a deal?Guess what happened, I Fell in Love with teaching and knew this is what I was going to do for the rest of my life. It didn't just happened had some major family issues and had to take custody of my sister's children and I was only 19 years old. I worked in an Elementary School as an Aide and try to take college classes and take care of a four year old and a newborn baby. So school had to go on the back burner. I had to just be the best Aide I could be and learn as much as I could. Then all of a sudden a tragedy hit a teacher in a special ed. class died and I was emergency certified to teach with no education. I was thrown into a class of severe emotional disturbed kids in which I had been the Aide. The challenge began ! This is what I have learned in the past twenty years please follow my funny stories the how to and just the greatest job you could ever have. Until next time always remember have fun and enjoy your kids.
